Concurso IED

In 2009 your inspiration will be the Hyperbody, that present or fancied body, current and future, of the XXI century

The HYPERBODY is the strange contradiction between the human and the supernatural, between the natural and the artificial, which represents increasingly the emergent icon that mutates beginning with the condition of man facing uncertainty of the new scenarios of globalization and the appearance of several and undefined identities. The body is the ideal territory to work on with different formats and applications to reflect about the new codes and new interpretations of human condition in its relational and social context.

SECOND PHASE OF THE CONTEST

The Istituto Europeo di Design from Barcelona along with CALIEXPOSHOW´s fashion commission and the Infashion Magazine will pre-select the 10 best projects turned in within the deadline.

The 10 pre-selected candidates will have to carry out the mini-collection proposed in the first phase of the contest, finishing the presentation of the project with the following details:

1. A complete look with accessories;
2. A free-form portfolio that includes:
a. Mood board / collage of ideas (from which were inspired)
b. 10 illustrations of the complete collection with its technical sheets.
c. The panel of tendencies with the selection of fabrics, colorful posters and the target’s definition.

The best 10 projects chose by the jury and the cloister of professors of the IED Barcelona, will be presented during the week of Cali Exposhow, from the 13th to the 17th of October of 2009 in the Fashion Pavilion.

WINNERS AND AWARDS

The jury composed by Alessandro Manetti (IED Barcelona Director), Barbara Labella (responsible for IED Barcelona´s fashion area), Pilar Luna (Infashion magazine´s Director) and some professors attending to the presentations, will finally choose the three (3) winners of the contest.

The winners will get:
1st place: 100% scholarship to study 1 year of the triennial Fashion course of the IED Barcelona.*
2nd place: 50% scholarship to study 1 year of the triennial Fashion  course of the IED Barcelona.
3rd place: 100% scholarship to complete a Summer Course in Fashion Design of the IED.

*The jury of the IED Barcelona reserves the right to extend the application of the scholarship for the 2nd or 3rd year of the triennial career of the Fashion Design course, depending on the quality of the projects submitted.

The top three will participate in the Opening runway of the Istituto Europeo di Design.

To evaluate the project will be take into account:
    • The coherence of the entire project from the idea until the definition of the target.
    • The realization of the sets: the sponsorship, the modeling and the dressmaking.
    • The presentation of the portfolio.
